SAM HAMMOND NAMED NAL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Sam Hammond has officially been named the 2025 National Arena League Defensive Player of the Year.

From day one, Sam has been a leader on and off the field, and this season he proved exactly why he’s one of the most dominant forces in the NAL. Week after week, he showed up with unmatched intensity—shutting down offenses, delivering crushing hits, and making the kinds of plays that shift momentum and win games.

A Season to Remember

Sam led the charge for our defense all season long. His stats tell part of the story:

  • 21 total tackles

  • 2 fumble recoveries

  • 3 forced fumbles

  • 12.5 sacks

But what doesn’t show up on the stat sheet is his relentless motor, his leadership in the locker room, and the energy he brought to every snap. He made it personal. He made it Spartan football.

More Than an Award

This honor isn’t just about Sam—it’s about the identity we’ve built here in Colorado. In only our second season in the NAL, we’ve produced standout athletes, earned league-wide respect, and now brought home one of the league’s highest individual honors on the defensive side of the ball.

Sam’s award reflects the grit, heart, and pride we play with every single game. He raised the standard—and everyone in our locker room took notice.

Eyes on the Bigger Prize

We’re proud of Sam, and we’re just as excited for what’s next. Championships aren’t given—they’re earned. And with leaders like Howell setting the tone, we’re all-in on bringing a title to Denver in 2026

Join us in congratulating Sam Howell on an incredible season and well-deserved recognition as the 2025 NAL Defensive Player of the Year
